-trader joe's white cheddar soy crisps

-$3.80 lunch at d & a cafe (on broadway, not clement) - cod in garlic sauce with rice AND with HK milk tea
-ben and jerry's cookies and cream on haight street on a sunny sunday THEN mcdonald's fries THEN napping on steve's couch while watching the office (US) dvds
-finally getting to the point where i actually want to work out NOT to lose weight or because of guilt
-this american life podcast while working out (one hour long, perfect length for two half hour workouts)

-3 hour long editorial meetings (hardboiled redux!!)
-feeling obligated to go to parties for lack of better alternatives

for woody allen fans, from the onion - by the by, did anyone else see scoop? no match point, but not unenjoyable.

speaking of, i watched 13 going on 30 last night on FX, per jason's recommendation. wow, seriously, not a bad movie! and i HATE jennifer garner.

golden globes - wasted an embarrassing number of hours watching that shit, and again regretting it - i will say that i used to hate on penelope cruz for not being able to speak english, but now i am a big fan - she was great in volver, has a hot body, is allegedly dating orlando bloom, AND, this killed me, when asked who she was wearing on the red carpet, she said: "chanel couture. my friend karl lagerfeld made this for me." I ALMOST DIED. how lucky can she be?!? jesu cristo. everyone, including mamabasco, was all into brangelina, but does angelina have couture designers making dresses for her??? sorry - brad is no karl lagerfeld!!!

THE VERY BLUSTERY DAY

one day last week it was so windy that laurie and i both couldn't sleep for fear that the windows would blow in on us. there is a huge tree right behind our house, and the whole night it sounded as if a large group of people was standing in our backyard rustling grocery bags back and forth. the wind blew the shingles off the little playhouse my dad built for us when we were kids. he repaired it the next afternoon, and i took this upon papabasco's triumphant descent -
