LilBadUpdate
tuesday: radiohead
straining to see, blocked view, tiny thom, great music, lost car in parking lot, frustrating traffic out of concert. i hate shoreline, but always forget when buying tickets to see awesome bands. cemented my disgust with the south bay. got last DC cell phone bill -- why didn't anyone stop me??
friday: free time?!
actually got off work at a decent time, albeit still late to meet up with frees. did a little shopping downtown before having an entertaining dinner with my parents and frees. came home to eat cake and ice cream and finish watching "east is east." i fancy movies about diaspora.
saturday: zoom zoom
woke up early to go precinct walking in the richmond district. crappy coffee at chinese bakery with a faulty lid. decent dim sum breakfast. walking richmond hills, sticking flyers on doorsteps. the fog cooled the sweat worked up. covered a precinct, then rushed over to lake merced to give stuff to a volunteer at dragon boat festival, braving 19th avenue traffic. rushed back to 6th and clement to face pushy chinese grocery shoppers and bad drivers. deep breathing exercises at stoplights to calm myself down. zen-ed out at green apple, browsing the great new books sale. bought hemingway and fanon, dirt cheap. went to frees' to watch harry potter 2 and play with falcor. went home, ate mom's wine-marinated chicken ("who needs the chicken?"). went to apature in soma really late with good sports kat and frees. almost hit a car, not paying enough attention on the road because of all the stress. tried halfheartedly to sign up volunteers for the campaign, luring them with free drinks. ran into a bunch of hardboiled folks, past and current. finally able to procure some truly non-campaign-related-time, so went to biff's party to let the stress go. sangria, floating fruit, reese's pieces, parliaments, tortilla chips, biff's puzzling skirt, party fouls, good vibrations stories, stanford virgins.
sunday: like a chicken with its head cut off
more running around like crazy. woken up at 11:30 by volunteer. rushed down to civic center to drop off a card table, signs, etc. for the anti-war rally. drove around looking for a parking space, running smack into matinee opera traffic. finally scored a space in the TL. browsed the tables at the rally, tried not to get suckered into a $15 tee shirt. had to escape the mass of people, so ambled over to sf centre (the irony is not lost on me). went to office to set-up for phonebank tonight. one of the volunteers said we went to middle school together, but i didn't recognize her at all, still don't know who she is. walked back to my car, swung by civic center, loaded my car with the table, etc, prepared to go home to sit on the new couch and read, but hit maddening folsom st. fair traffic. finally got to relax with prague by arthur phillips after dinner at the grammy's. too tired to read more than 10 pages. it's only 11:45, but cannot hold eyes open another second. this week only gets more fun, since it's the week before the election. so be nice to me if you talk to me.
