who else say last week's ep of the office about the asian benihana waitresses? i need to ponder it a little bit longer - i think it was funny, BUT also pretty racy in terms of doing an extended racial joke that many people still find offensive - would they do a similar joke re: blacks? and even if so, does that make it ok? i think anything that provokes discussion or thoughts about race is basically good, BUT there was something about this that made me uncomfortable, not sure exactly what yet. maybe cuz it felt like the show was saying "haha, isn't that funny," instead of "isn't that fucked up?" (which it does indeed do with other jokes, eg oscar being gay, the black guy having been in jail) - maybe i wasn't paying attention at the end, but i don't remember the asian girls having a chance at the end to tell michael off for being a jerk? so there wasn't that sense of showing it was wrong? just some thoughts.

also, if you are going to go to the new hott bar in sf on the weekend that you are sure to see every person from high school back for christmas, and you are with five dudes, and you see two girls behind you in line that you went to high school with, and you ask them to go in front of you in line so that you can pretend to be with them so you can get in (without telling them this, of course) - at least have the decency to buy them a drink for getting you in! skeezy bastard!

but otherwise, slide is pretty nice - it totally reminded me of dream (dc 2k3), tho biff thinks it feels like l.a. - even the water guys are cute. rye is also a new favorite from the people behind old favorites rosewood and 15 romolo (kimi: ROMOLO!!!)
